Hello,
I recently purchased an older (~10 year) outdoor teak furniture set I am restoring. It’s generally in decent condition, however there are a few identified issues: (i) a couple of pieces have larger
chunksof wood that have detached completely, (ii) a couple of boards have begun to rot (generally at the surface), and (iii) there are a number of small cracks in certain pieces.I will be cleaning it with SEMCO teak cleaner, and ultimately sealing it with SEMCO teak sealer (from the website: solvent-based teak finish with water-like viscosity containing pigments, mildewcide, UV inhibitors and moisture protection; does not contain silicone, varnish, polymers or exotic oils). In terms of addressing the other issues above, I’m inclined to address by sealing with your CPES* product and filling with all wood expoxy glue* and a mixture of sawdust where necessary (i.e. glue-only in cracks and glue+sawdust as
fillforchunksof missing wood). There is not enough missing wood where I think I’ll need a larger volume solution like your layup & laminating epoxy*.Do you see any issues with this approach and is CPES* and a
fillcomprised of the all wood glue* and sawdust compatible with SEMCO teak sealer over top? Thanks very much,
Robert SRobert,
Yes on the use of our All Wood Epoxy Glue* with and without the sawdust thickener, but probably no on the use of the CPES* if the SEMCO is going to be applied over top if it… CPES* is a very powerful epoxy sealer and if it is placed on the wood, then the only thing that can effectively go over it is a UV inhibiting varnish, such as Epiphanies Clear. It produces a beautiful glossy finish. However, using the SEMCO teak sealer over the top of the CPES* will not work well.
