Subject: Teak hatch & Floors

Dr -
I purchased several products from you earlier this year and am quite pleased with the results. Best of all, I'm not much of a Do-It-Yourself guy!
As I used your product, I came up with more applications for CPES. Now I have a couple of questions.
1. My sailboat has a teak hatch over the companionway This hatch is made of several boards about 2" wide. When it rains the water will enter between the boards. Would CPES seal this leak? The teak hatch today is finished with Sikkens, would I be able to put Sikkens over CPES?
CPES will seal very small cracks. I would suggest that to stop the
leaking you apply about three coats of CPES to the cracks, even though
one coat would be sufficient over the open wood. To avoid getting the
CPES outside the cracks you could use a narrow gauge needle on a medical
syringe and gently flow it in.
No, Sikkens will not go well over CPES. Any varnish will, however, with
superior adhesion.
2. The floor of my sailboat has a few areas of delamination. What would you recommend to finish over the CPES?
If you're getting delamination, I would treat first with the CPES and
then secondarily with our Layup & Laminating Resin. The L&L Resin is a
very slow-setting resin that penetrates deeply and will bond the
laminates securely.
Thanks again.
