Subject: repairing wooden gutters

I have just bought a home with wooden gutters. There is obvious rot in areas. Since these surfaces are horizontal and not vertical, can your product help or do I need to replace the wood? Thanks, Trudy

Trudy,

CPES (Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer) is what you need for repairing the gutters. It's a pretty simple process: 1) Clean out the gutters to bare wood; 2) Allow them to dry, or be reasonably dry; 3) Apply CPES generously, allowing the deteriorated wood to absorb all that it will; 4) Fill any holes or cracks with Fill-It Epoxy Filler. That's it...you're done. You can paint if you wish, although it is not necessary.

The CPES treatment is a one-time, permanent cure for deteriorated wood. If there is any soft wood on the outside of the gutter, the CPES can be applied there as well, and then painted over for a good appearance.

How much CPES you would need will depend on the absorbency of the wood. Generally, you can figure that a 2-quart unit should treat the inside of about 20' moderately deteriorated gutter.

If you have further questions, come on back and we'll do our best to answer them.
