I am currently considering purchasing a fiberglass boat with some exposed wood under the deck. The wood is painted plywood. I want to seal this wood before there is a chance for it to rot. Will the Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer seal this wood even though it is painted?

No, the paint must be removed, or at least 90% of it. CPES will not penetrate effectively through paint.

However, I should point out that the wood hardly ever rots from below. Usually it deteriorates because water gets in between the glass deck and the wood underneath. Check deck/hull seals, deck fittings, etc. and make sure they are securely bedded and tightened down. As a precautionary measure, you can apply the CPES into all cracks and holes before sealing. We recommend you use a polyurethane sealant such as 3-M 4200 or 5200.
